Privacy Policy

Last updated: 23 August 2026

Paddock is a cozy logic puzzle game for iPhone and iPad (bundle identifier com.weinhold.paddock). This policy explains, in plain terms, what happens to data when you play it. It describes the app as it is built: there is no account, no login, and no server run by us.

The short version

  • There is nothing to sign up for, and nothing about you is sent to us.
  • Your progress lives on your device and, so it follows you between your own devices, in your own iCloud.
  • Gameplay analytics never leave your device.
  • Purchases are handled by Apple and by RevenueCat, under an anonymous identifier.
  • Ads are served by Google AdMob. Personalised advertising happens only if you allow it, and you can change your mind at any time.

Who we are

Paddock is published by Appentwicklung René Weinhold, Merlinweg 14, 44229 Dortmund, Germany. Where data protection law requires a controller to be named for the limited processing described below, that is Appentwicklung René Weinhold. You can reach us at support@play-paddock.app.

No account, and no server of ours

Paddock has no sign-up, no login and no user profile. We do not operate a backend for the game, and nothing you do in the app is uploaded to us. We hold no file with your name on it, because no such file is ever created.

Your game progress

Solved levels, your streak, your statistics, your clover balance and your settings are stored in a JSON file inside the app's own container on your device.

That same progress is mirrored to Apple's iCloud key-value store, so a puzzle you solve on your iPhone is already solved when you open the game on your iPad. This store belongs to your Apple ID and is governed by Apple's iCloud terms and privacy policy. We cannot read it. If you would rather keep progress on a single device, you can turn iCloud Drive off for Paddock in iOS Settings.

Analytics stay on your device

The game records gameplay events — a level started, a hint used — to Apple's unified log (OSLog) on the device, which is what a developer reads when debugging a build in front of them. There is no analytics SDK in the app and none of this is transmitted anywhere. We do not receive it.

Purchases

Purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple. Apple takes the payment; we never see your card details, and Apple gives us nothing that identifies you.

To know whether a purchase is active, the app uses RevenueCat, which processes purchase and transaction history under an anonymous app user ID generated for the installation. Because the game has no accounts, this is not connected to your name, email or any other identity, and it is not used to track you. RevenueCat's own handling of that data is described in its privacy policy.

Advertising

The game shows advertising through Google AdMob: one anchored banner, and a rewarded video that only ever plays when you choose to watch it. Buying Premium removes advertising entirely.

Your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) is read only when both Google's consent form and Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt permit it. If you decline either one, nothing about the game changes: the puzzles, the rewards and your progress are exactly the same, and ads simply become less relevant.

Google's use of the data it collects through AdMob is described in its privacy policy.

Install measurement

The app supports Apple's SKAdNetwork, which lets an advertiser learn that an install happened without identifying the device or the person. It works at the level of aggregate, privacy-preserving reporting handled by Apple, not at the level of an individual profile.

Your choices about ads

Two separate permissions are involved, and both are asked only after you have been through onboarding — never on first launch.

  • Google's UMP consent form is shown in the EEA and other regulated regions, and asks how advertising data may be used.
  • Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt is shown separately, and asks whether the app may access the advertising identifier.

You can reopen the consent choice at any time from Settings → Ad privacy choices inside the game. The tracking permission is controlled by iOS, in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

What is collected, at a glance

This is the data collection declared for the App Store. Nothing here is linked to your identity, because the app never learns it.

Data Collected by Linked to you Used for tracking Purpose
Device ID (the advertising identifier) Google AdMob No Yes Third-party advertising
Advertising data (which ads were shown and interacted with) Google AdMob No Yes Third-party advertising
Purchase history RevenueCat No No App functionality

Your game progress does not appear in this table because it is not collected: it stays on your device and in your own iCloud.

Why we may process this data

Where the GDPR applies, advertising that uses the advertising identifier rests on your consent, given through the consent form and the tracking prompt, and withdrawn through the controls described above. Processing purchase history through RevenueCat is necessary to give you what you bought — to keep Premium unlocked and to restore it on your other devices.

International transfers

Google and RevenueCat are US companies, so personal data may be processed outside the European Economic Area. The safeguards that apply to those transfers under Chapter V of the GDPR are set out in each provider's own data protection and data processing terms.

How both companies handle data is described by them: Google's privacy policy and RevenueCat's privacy policy.

Your rights

If you are in the EEA or the UK you have the rights to access your personal data, to have it corrected, to have it erased, to object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent you have given. Here is how each of those actually works for a game with no accounts:

  • Access and rectification. We hold no personal data about you, so there is nothing for us to hand over or correct. Your progress is already yours: it is on your device and in your iCloud, where you can read it.
  • Erasure. Deleting the app removes the on-device data. To remove the synced copy as well, delete Paddock's iCloud data from iOS Settings under your Apple ID → iCloud.
  • Objection and withdrawal of consent. Use Settings → Ad privacy choices in the game to change your advertising consent, and iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking to withdraw the tracking permission. Withdrawal takes effect from that point on; it does not undo processing that already happened.
  • Data held by Google or RevenueCat. Any advertising or purchase data those companies hold is subject to their own policies and their own request processes — see Google's privacy policy and RevenueCat's privacy policy.

You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority. If anything above is unclear, write to us at support@play-paddock.app.

Children

Paddock is suitable for a general audience, but it is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to this policy

If the app changes in a way that affects this policy, we will update the page and move the date at the top. Material changes will be described here rather than slipped in quietly.
