A logic puzzle for iPhone and iPad

Every animal needs its own space.

Paddock is a quiet puzzle set on a small farm. Fences divide the field into paddocks; you work out where each animal belongs. Four rules, one right answer, and nothing counting down while you think.

Works fully offline. No account, ever.

A Paddock board part-way through: a green field cut into paddocks by wooden fences, with three cows placed and three squares crossed out as ruled out.

The rules

Four rules, and that is the whole game.

Every board is a field with fences across it. Where the fences fall changes everything; the rules never do.

  1. Every row contains exactly one animal.
  2. Every column contains exactly one animal.
  3. Every fenced paddock contains exactly one animal.
  4. No two animals may touch — not even diagonally.

Boards run from 5×5 up to 9×9. Mark the squares you have ruled out as you go, and the rest is deduction — there is never a moment where you have to guess.

A solved five-by-five board Five animals on a five-by-five field divided into five fenced paddocks. Each row, each column and each paddock holds exactly one animal.

Rules 1–3: one animal in each row, each column and each fenced paddock.

The squares around an animal One animal in the middle of a three-by-three block. All eight surrounding squares, including the diagonals, are crossed out.

Rule 4: nothing may stand in any of the eight squares around an animal.

Three ways to play

A board a day, a long path, or as many as you like.

Daily Pasture

One puzzle a day, the same board for everyone, and a streak that grows for as long as you keep turning up. Always free.

Journey

130 hand-curated levels across five chapters — The Meadow, Sunny Fields, The Old Barn, Green Hills and the Highlands — with the field widening from 5×5 to 9×9 as you climb.

Endless

Boards generated one after another, without end. Every one is checked before it reaches you, so it has exactly one solution and a way to reason your way to it.

Hints

A hint tells you why, not where.

Ask for help and Paddock names the deduction you have not made yet. You still make the move, which is the part worth having.

  • “This row has only one space left.”
  • “This paddock’s animal must be on that line.”

Clover and the Barn

Solved pastures pay in clover.

Every board you finish earns clover — larger and harder boards earn more, and the Daily pays double. Clover goes to the Barn, where nine animals wait to be brought out into the field: the Holstein you start with, a Jersey, a sheep, a goat, and on up to the Highland you have to save for.

Whichever animal is in the field is the one you place on every board after that.

Quiet by design

It asks nothing of you but the puzzle.
